Brian is currently pursuing a Ph.D program under Dr. Mike Roan.  Brian’s research involves using stochastic approximations of differential games to find the optimal policies agents should make during pursuit-evasion scenarios.  In particular, his research incorporates cooperative behaviors of multiple agents and a model for simulating a sound pressure field used for sensing.  As a loose analogy, it is similar to finding the optimal decisions players can use while playing the aquatic game, Marco Polo.  Brian future research will involve simulating these pursuit-evasion scenarios and enacting them on test vehicles.  Other projects Brian has worked on involve modeling sound pressure fields using finite-difference methods and creating acoustic beamformers for use in localization purposes.

Outside of work, Brian likes to go hiking on many of the area’s trails.  He is also enjoys carpentry; particularly using a lathe to turn fallen tree limbs into furniture.  However, Brian’s most favorite hobby is cooking up fried chicken the way it was meant to be: with an iron skillet, spice, and lots of love.
