Ryan Haac

WIth a B.S. from Virginia Tech, Ryan is pursuing an MS degree in the Mechanical Engineering department.  His research in the Vibrations and Acoustics Lab, under the advisory of Dr. Ricardo Burdisso, primarily consists of experimental efforts to measure the response of a residential building to a sonic boom and the subsequent analyzation of these data.   The impulsive excitation used in the experiments is generated by the detonation of a distributed line charge (detonating cord).   The experimental effort in progress seeks to validate a code intended to predict the interior acoustic response of a residential structure to a sonic boom.  

 

In his free time, Ryan finds himself outdoors: on a bicycle or in the garden; or likewise with music, friends, rabbits, or even on college radio.
